How many people can stay?

Amaroo comfortably sleeps six adults (couples) or a family with children. We have two bedrooms in the main house and the separate private Boathouse studio by the water. There is a queen bed and two king single beds in the main cottage and a queen bed in the Boathouse studio. We do not take bookings for groups larger than six.

Where is Amaroo located and how do we get there?

Amaroo is located at 2196 Hawkesbury River, Bar Point on the Hawkesbury River, about an hour north of Sydney, NSW, Australia. Amaroo is boat access only, with the best access from nearby Deerubbun Boat Ramp, on Peats Ferry Road, Mooney Mooney (you can see it on Google maps here). You can take your own boat, hire a water taxi or tinny or take the take The Riverboat Postman Ferry. The water taxi takes around 10 minutes or the ferry takes up to 40 minutes.

We recommend the following services:

  • Hawkesbury Water Taxi with pickup from Mooney Mooney or other areas (call Neal on +61 422 300 100). Neal can also arrange for a tinny to be at the Amaroo jetty on your arrival.

  • The Riverboat Postman Ferry with pickup from Brooklyn or Kangaroo Point (+61 400 600 111)

  • Brooklyn Marina, offers tinny hire ( +61(2) 9985 7722) for those who want to be able to head up and down the river on their own,

You are also welcome to bring your own boat.

When you book in, we can help you plan the best way for you to arrive.

What time is check in and check out?

Check-in and check-out are normally 4pm.
If you wish to arrive or depart at a different time, just give us a call and we will see if we can arrange it.

What do we need to bring?

There are no shops within walking distance. Before you depart you may want to stop at the convenience store at Brooklyn to pick up supplies. During your stay Brooklyn is a 20-30 minute boat trip away.

The kitchen has basic supplies (salt, pepper, sugar etc) so please bring all the food, coffee, tea, alcohol that you need for your stay. The kitchen has a full-sized fridge, freezer, ceramic stove-top, oven and dishwasher. It is fully equipped with everything you might need (including tea pot and moka stove top espresso maker or french press for coffee!).

We provide towels, linen and guest soap for your stay.

Do remember wet and warm weather gear in case the weather turns cold.

We'd love to help you escape from it all, and simply spend time indulging in connecting with nature, friends and family. But, we also know that sometimes you need to connect to the wider world too! The cottage does get phone and data reception but at times it can be patchy. There is no wifi at Amaroo.

Do you have phone reception and wifi?
